March 2025 - March-ing into Spring!

Updated: Mar 6

News from the Town Office

March — Spring is in the air, all this snow will be melting… that means the potential for frozen

storm drains, especially if we have the usual melt followed by –20 weather, which happens

frequently. Please call the town office if a storm drain is flooding near you, we are watching for

it and know the problem areas, but can’t be everywhere at once.

Watch out for our Public Works Staff — Please keep obstructions off streets to assist with

snow removal. The snow removal policy is for primary areas first, followed by residential

streets and lastly, back lanes. When you see our equipment moving snow, please wait for them

to finish before passing the tractor, bobcat, or truck with trailer attached.

Transfer Station Rates — Council is reviewing the rates that are being charged at the transfer

station and looking to implement some changes. This will be a flat rate charge for all items, as

opposed to the sizing charge that it currently is at. This should change for April 1st. Look for

updates around the community on the new rates!

Pet Licenses and Business Licenses expired on December 31st

. Bylaw Enforcement will be

issuing tickets this month for any unlicensed pets. If you are breeding your pet, you do need a

special license. Please ensure you are doing your best to follow our bylaws. Licenses were due

by January 31st. Please ensure you register your business and renew those licenses. Remember

our bylaw has a four pet limit.

Building Information — If you are altering your home/garage, there may be permits required.

Please ensure that you get your permit in advance of starting your project.

Water & Sewer — In previous years, sewer clogs have caused problems in excess of our

budgeted amount. This has been a consistent problem the last few years. Wipes should never

go into the toilet. As this is becoming a regular problem, Council may consider raising the cost

of the sewer section of the utility bills to compensate for these ongoing costs. As well, Council

will be looking at a water rate increase, due to SaskWater increasing their rates again this year.
